Discount Calculator

Calculate sale price and savings.

About this tool

This discount calculator works out the amount saved and the price after a percentage discount. It is useful when comparing sale prices or checking how much a promotional offer reduces an original price.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the original price.
  2. Enter the discount percentage.
  3. Calculate to see the discount amount and estimated sale price.

Formula

Discount amount = Original price × Discount rate ÷ 100; Sale price = Original price − Discount amount

Worked example

For an original price of ₹1,000 with a 20% discount, the saving is ₹200 and the sale price is ₹800.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a 20% discount?

Multiply the original price by 0.20 to find the saving, then subtract that saving from the original price.

Is the discount amount the final price?

No. The discount amount is how much is taken off. The sale price is the original price minus that discount.

Can I calculate stacked discounts?

This calculator applies one discount rate. For two sequential discounts, apply the first discount and then apply the second percentage to the reduced price; do not simply add the rates.

Does this include GST or delivery charges?

No. Enter the price you want to discount. Taxes, shipping, coupon restrictions and other charges may change the final amount payable.
