Home Loan Calculator
Estimate home-loan EMI and repayment.
About this tool
This home-loan calculator estimates the monthly EMI, total repayment and interest for a housing loan. It uses a standard reducing-balance formula with a constant rate and equal monthly instalments.
How to use this calculator
- Enter the loan principal—not the property price unless it equals the loan amount.
- Enter the annual interest rate and repayment tenure.
- Calculate EMI and total cost, then compare with the lender’s amortisation schedule.
Formula
Worked example
If the home loan is ₹30,00,000, use the annual rate quoted by the lender and selected term to estimate the monthly repayment. Add fees and insurance separately when budgeting.
Frequently asked questions
Does a larger down payment reduce EMI?
Usually yes, because borrowing a smaller principal reduces the amount being repaid, all else equal.
What happens if my home-loan rate is floating?
EMI or tenure can change when the rate resets. This calculator assumes the entered rate stays constant throughout the term.
Are stamp duty and registration included?
No. They are property-purchase costs rather than loan principal-and-interest repayments.
Should I rely on this as the lender’s final EMI?
Use it for planning only. Confirm the final EMI, fees, floating-rate terms and repayment schedule with the lender.
